Okay, so I know that every day is costume day for me. Fashion is my hobby, and like the blog says www.fashionshouldbefun.com. So the holidays hold a special place in my heart, because my gaudy, sparkly nature is accepted. I have worn glittery, shiny, velvety stuff for about 3 weeks now, and will continue my rampage until Epiphany, which is around January 6, 2017. And, I also have both my Birchbox and my Ipsy bag to show you.
So first I will do December 14, which is a Tuesday and a work day. This is what I wore:
All certified vintage !!! I know, because I bought all of these things soooooo long ago. This is a copper lurex turtleneck from a brand called Once 1 Again. Who knows, but it sure is a pretty sweater - see closeup below. And the mid calf suede skirt is from Chadwick's - I used to buy one item every fall and one pants set every spring from them in the 80's.
This whole outfit is then coated in satin brocade. This boy style blazer is from WDNY, which is a Neiman Marcus/ Last Call brand. Closeup to follow. I only needed one bracelet to finish it off, and that is super unusual for me. But I chose my awesome turtle bracelet from EBay for the job.
Okay, now for the detail closeups. First, sweater. So sparkly. It's also ombre, but that's hard to see unless it is in person. Either way, very pretty.
The brocade jacket is in a classic Chinese pattern. It is a brown body with orange, green and ivory accent colors.
And the Ipsy bag was right up my alley this month as well. The theme is "Carpe PM', and is totally appropriate for me. I love to go out at night with almost anyone, but we all work and it is hard during the week. And on the weekends, its all grandkids all the time. So during the holidays, when all the parties are happening, I get to get dressed up MULTIPLE times. Yay !!! And I love the hot pink pony hair bag.
Here is what I got, from left to right:
1) Benefit PoreFessional primer. Love this stuff, and getting one for free is awesome.
2) OUAI Wave Spray, AKA Spray Ondulation.. I am getting low on Marc Anthony, so I will try this one after I use all the Marc A. Then a winner shall be declared.
3) NIP + FAB exfoliate - glycolic fix serum
4) m princess powder eye shadow - a gorgeous coppery powder.
5) Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint - it looked scary dark, so I practiced, and you can apply it thinly to get a lot less color. It was nice - a berry type glossy stain.
Onwards and upwards !!! Where did my sparkly soul lead me today?? Lessseee.
OMG !!! I have a celebrity in the house. It is Election Dae Caruso Holtzman, AKA Elli. She is the official spokesmodel for Beach Medical, and is on duty tomorrow.
I am wearing Fendi slacks, and an ombre sweater from ny collection. It goes gold to black, and has that classic, flattering dolman silhouette. One last kiss - one from Elli and one from Doc (in that order. so yuck but so funny).
Let's get a peek at the jewel situation. My necklace is all mom - a gold ropey chain and then a costume shell shaped pendant with crystals that looks very high quality. I am guessing that it may be KJL, but I will confirm later
The right arm - my Hermes CDC, and a cubic ring that was my mom's. It's a marquis with nice modern geometric features. It is nothing like my mom's other choices in jewelry, so maybe she got it as a gift???
On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set and my seed bead cuff from the Chakra Shack in Laguna Beach. That was such a fun weekend, and we have some cool stuff planned for Xmas day this year.
And my December 2016 Birchbox came It came with holiday gift tags.
Here is what I got, from top to bottom:
1) IPKN Flash Cream Radiant Primer. Can be use with or without foundation, and has SPF 15. A weekend possibility for me.
2) and 3) Rene Furterer Lumicia Shampoo and Conditioner - a French brand that uses only natural ingredients.
3) LOC One and Done Shadow Stick in Rock Steady - this must be a trend, because I have a bunch of shadow sticks. I haven't tried them yet, so the verdict is still out.
4) A really cool purse sized mirror. Love it.
5) Organic Pharmacy Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream - I have gotten this before, and I loved it. I was happy to see it in my collection this month.

Hello Holidays !!
This weekend, we had a lot of activity around Casa De Holtzman. On Saturday morning, I went for my weekly jog through HB Central Park. I saw my little flock of Egyptian geese.
This is mama. Note that she has red feet, and brown circles around her eyes.
Here is the baby - no eye rings and no red feet. Later on in the run - this is what I saw.
A giant white heron or stork or something. He had a yellow beak and black legs.
I guess he got startled or something, because he fluffed up and soared away.
That was a really cool nature lesson. I love all the birds in the park. After that, I came home and we went to a party thrown by our sweet neighbors, Rhonda and David. This is what I wore:
Brown corduroy jeans, a nondescript tan turtleneck, a poncho from JC Penney, and a fur ball scarf from Bebe. I also wore brown fur trimmed hiking boots, but I didn't get a picture.
On Sunday morning, I looked out at my boys. A couple of weeks ago, I gave Vinni an old bathroom rug that I no longer needed/ He treats it like it's his prized possession.
To sweeten the pot, I gave him the cardboard tube that was inside the Christmas wrapping paper. I cut it into two pieces.
Later that morning, Doc and I went to Dollar Tree to get Christmas bags filled with gifts for the little ones. We have learned that little kids love big bags full of gifts. For $15 a kid, you are their hero, and that includes gift bags and tissue paper. Here is what everyone is getting:
The babies get the reindeer bag, the girls get the Santa bag, and the boys get the fox bag. We also made sure that everyone got exactly the same number and type of gifts as their sisters, cousins, and brothers. So no whining or crying.
A plastic bat and ball set, a dinosaur, some Army men, a Disney figurine, a Funny Animals DVD, a yoyo, a toy car, and two or three books.
The haul for the babies: a snowman plushie, some rubber duckies, a sippy cup, some little travel food containers, and gender specific socks.
Each woman in the family gets an extra gift - either a picture frame or a book to share with their children.
Here is the cornucopia, all wrapped and ready to go:
On Sunday evening, we went to a Christmas concert that our three grandchildren were performing in. This is what I wore:
These are jean style leggings by Hue. They are olive green with gold foil print. On top, I have a gold lurex turtleneck.
On top of that, I have an olive jersey cardi from Target. Olive green ankle booties complete the look.
My necklace is a mother of pearl pendant on a tan leather cord. There are a few green beads at the junction. The kids were really cute and the adult choir was very talented. They had numbers with flute, drums, and piano solos. The children's choir sung three songs, and there were cookies afterwards.
Today, it's back to work. In keeping with the holiday theme, I wore another festive outfit:
These are Chinese brocade pants in gold and burgundy. On top, I have a burgundy velvet top with an embroidered medallion at the chest.
I am wearing burgundy Kenneth Cole slingback shoes. On top, I wore a tan Style and Co ruffled cardi.
And that's all. except for a bunch of links:

Party Like It's 2016 !!!
Well, today we had our management party. It was at Spaghettini, a local restaurant. I has sirloin with yukon potato puree and mixed seasonal veggies. Yum. This is what I wore today:
I am wearing Loft silk brocade slacks that are dark red and black. They have a side zip and little vents at the ankle. On top, I have a black ribbed cardi with beads made by Barandi, with a black lurex tank underneath.
On top of that, I have a solid black brocade jacket with faux fur cuffs, made by Lawrence. It is vintage, maybe sixties. For the occasion, i busted out a new pair of shoes.
They are made by Style and Co, and are black suede, with the front straps made of elastic shot through with gold lurex.
I am wearing three necklaces. They were all my mom's. The top one is a "Journey Through Life" diamond pendant. The middle one is a herringbone with a crystal bead that can be strung on it. The bottom one is a gold rope with a diamond heart pendant.
On my right arm, a seed bead cuff that I got at the Chakra Shack in Laguna Beach.
On my left arm, my Hermes CDC.
Yesterday, this is what I wore. This is a dress from New York and Company, which I picked up at the warehouse sale on Black Friday. It is very comfy, but shorter than I thought it would be.
I wore my Tahari Mary Janes with this - they are taupe suede with copper leather accents. I wore the necklace and earrings that I got at the Taste of Charlotte in North Carolina last summer.
On my left arm, a grey suede and crystal bracelet, and a silver and hematite ring.
