I am taking a little poetic license with this title, because my pants really aren't checked, although they are black and white.
These cigarette style pants are from Forever 21. I don't remember how I got them, but they were in my closet nevertheless - I don't really buy anything but shoes from F21 anymore. On top, I have a couple of department store tops - one black cowl neck sweater, and an ivory waterfall cardi. The back of the cardi is all lace.
I took three pairs of shoes to be fixed a week or so ago, and so this is the first time I have been able to wear them in a while ( I procrastinated about taking them in)
I have missed these Dolce Vita suede sandals. But now they are back in action.
Onto the jewelry. I am wearing a garnet cross that was my mom's - I have one, but I like this one better, so I may re-gift the other one at some point.
On my right arm, I have a silver/onyx spaceship ring and a costume wire bracelet.
On my left arm, I have a leather studded wraparound bracelet, and my Swarovski Trema ring.

A Wicked, Wound Up Week Ahead
This week should be interesting. In addition to work, I have a Medical Staff Annual meeting to attend, then I am a bus hostess for our corporate summit held at Disneyland, then on Friday, I am off to Charlotte, North Carolina, to attend my professional organization's annual educational conference. I am all packed and ready to go. I had been keeping a whole set of toiletries and necessities all packed and ready to go during my mom's final illness, so it will come in handy now.
So this weekend, we just wrapped up some legal matters with my mom's estate, then did some shopping and relaxing. One of our stops was Trader Joe's. I wanted to get a mixed bouquet to split up and put at various places around the house. Here's how that played out.
I put a stargazer and some greenery near the French Doors leading to the pool.
Look how much it opened overnight!! It's huge!!!
I put a sunflower and some yellow daisies on the grainy wood desk that we set up on Wednesday.
And finally, more red roses and some stock for the cedar chest.
Also at Trader Joe's, we got some delicious frozen food to heat up. We got a Queso Fundido pizza, a chicken pot pie, and this coiled Greek bread made of filo dough and four cheeses.
I added this cheese to the top of the pizza. Everything was delicious, and will quickly restore the couple of pounds I lost due to all the hullabaloo of the past month.
My mom had a gob of comforters and blankets, so out went our old ones and in came hers. I spent most of Saturday afternoon washing and redressing the bed. I love to plop onto a fresh, fluffy, clean bed.
We now have nine pillows. The odd man out gets to sit on the foot of the bed, and Doc and I get four apiece. I also washed and fluffed Elli's two beds.
Speaking of Elli, I took her with me to Wal Mart on Sunday morning. I wanted to stock up and Cesar, Pedigree wet, and Pedigree dry food for everyone. Doc will be at home keeping the ranch safe, so I made sure that he has all the necessary doggie essentials. She was mobbed by little kids a couple of times, and got to help pick out her favorite Cesar flavors (Meat Lasagna and Beef Stroganoff).
Then, I worked out and prepared a couple of outfits for the week. During this time, Nathan came by and picked up our dining set to take to his house, because......
We got a new one!!! It's unusual, because the chairs have no backs. Doc and I like it because it will require us to sit up straight (me) and it looks like it came from a pirate ship (Doc).
It is wrought iron with a rustic plank top.
And her it is, all set up and decorated. Kim called and said the old one is perfect -all 5 of them can sit together at it, with one space left over. So a success all around.
Back to work today, and what am I wearing??
This is a bright blue Slinky Brand knit pants set with silver embellishment on the tunic. It's super comfy. I added a silver chain belt for some shape.
I wore a silver braided necklace that has diamond cutting to make it even more sparkly.
On my right arm, a turquoise cuff and a triple stone blue topaz ring.
On my left, another turquoise cuff and a London Blue topaz ring.

Freaking Out on a Friday
This has been one hectic week - stuff with my mom's estate, a trip to North Carolina for me next week, Elli and her pancreas, and general catch up at work after 6 days off. So, because of that, you get two outfits today. Let's look at Thursday:
Nice face. Anyway, this is a Loft skirt made of wool with an embroidered hem. On top, I have a chiffon ruffle trimmed tank top and a satin blazer from Ungaro.
I took my Joan Rivers convertible necklace (my mom's) and wound it around my neck twice to make a choker situation. The amber pendant is removable, and there is a second strand of beads, too.
On my right arm, my Swarovski Nirvana in Black Diamond, and two gold bracelets that were also my mom's.
I took a closeup of them, because one is really substantial in weight.
Last night, Doc and I set up the last piece of inherited furniture in our house - this time a fold top desk that is made of the most beautifully grained wood.
There was a folding bookcase that we had there (we put the cedar chest in it's place last week), so I put the books inside and all the trinkets on top. It looks pretty.
Onto today. I am wearing a dress that I got at Nordstrom a long time ago.
It's a denim type fabric with a wide band of elastic at the waist and an exposed back zipper. Since it's a bit risque for work, I covered up with a gabardine short sleeved swing style jacket.
I wore two necklaces.
The shorter one is the kind where you can interchange the stone to match your outfit. I think it has 5 different colors. The longer one was my mom's, and it is moonstone and blue topaz.
Here's a closeup of the matching ring, which I wore on my left arm.
Also on the left, two silver bracelets. On my right arm,
Two more silver bracelets, and two stacked rings - one all blue topaz, and one of blue topaz and tanzanite.

Holy Leather, Batman !!!
I kid, I kid. I say this because of my skirt that I picked up in Las Vegas a couple of years ago.
It is made by INC - I got it at the best Macy's in the world at Fashion Show Mall on the Strip. I paired it with a knit tweed top from Target that has faux leather trim.
This is a look at the perforated detail on the skirt. It's fully lined.
I wore three necklaces today. The longest one is my good old Joan Rivers convertible pearl number. The middle one is very hard to see - it's a 14k gold flat herringbone chain. The shortest one is a diamond piece that was my mom's - it's called the journey through life pendant. Here is a closeup of the two of them.
On my right arm, I have a leather and crystal cuff that I got in Baltimore, and a ruby cluster cocktail ring.
On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding rings, and a leather/goldtone cuff, also from INC, but here in Costa Mesa.

Back to Work and Back to Reality
Over the weekend, our little Elli had an episode of vomiting that really scared me, so off to Dr Lizardo's we went.
My pobrecita had pancreatitis. He gave her some shots and she slept all day and now she is fine. No more people food for her. Her xrays crack me up. She is all skin and bones. She always has been. She recovered quickly and scarfed down her dog food. When we got pizza on Saturday, she ran into the kitchen, begging and staring, but........doctor's orders.
At my mom's funeral, my SIL Tawn and her husband John gave me a white orchid as a remembrance.
I put it in the room that we put her cedar chest in. They also gave me a hand me down nightstand. I had one that needed replacing, so it was perfect. I put my elephant collection on it, and left the two bottom shelves for Doc to use for his books.
You can see the cedar chest right there next to it.
Back to work today for a very busy 4 day work week. Here is what I wore:
This is a Carole Little knit dress. With it, this Joan Rivers statement necklace was perfect.
On my right arm, two gold and amethyst bracelets, and a triple stone amethyst ring.
On my left arm, another amethyst ring, an amethyst/turquoise bracelet, and a gold bracelet.
