I'm Dreaming of A White Lifeguard Tower

When we left off, I told you guys that it was raining. The famous corner office view:

Well, about an hour later, there were reports of "snow" on the beach and in downtown HB. It turned out that the snow was actually pea-sized hail. Here are a couple of actual pictures of the hail on the beach.

Isn't that cool? The news said that it has been something like 23 years since anything of this nature has occurred. But today is a transitional day - there are still some clouds out, but for the most part, it's bright and sunny.

So what am I wearing today?

A mix and match outfit. The jacket is the top half of a vintage Albert Nipon suit. The chiffon skirt is INC, and the crochet sweater is Spiegel. Let's get a look without the jacket.

Let's also get a look at the Albert Nipon jacket. It has chiffon ruffle trim around the neckline and the cuffs.

And the chiffon skirt has two layers of fabric, plus it is fully lined.

The colors match exactly, even though the suit originally had a skirt that went with it. I wore two necklaces - one long and one short. The longer one came from Charming Charlie.

It has lavender pearls, purple pearls, grey crystals, and a mauve tassel. Something for everyone!!! The shorter necklace is Austrian crystal in purple with clear separators.

With this, I wore grey tights, so to keep along smooth line going, I went with my Pour La Victoire suede wedges.

The arm decorations were easy, since I have a lot of purple. On my left hand, two silver Austrian crystal bracelets and an amethyst/opal ring.

On my right hand, just one lone London Blue Topaz ring.

And of course, the links!! Back to two f my favorites. First Lauren at www.stylelixir.com is hosting Style Sessions. The theme is Winter Outfits. I guess that what I wore after a day of "snow" in HB will qualify me. Then, Amber at www.induffinitely.blogspot.com is hosting Tremendous Tuesday. There are a lot of participants that I will be checking out. So have a great day, and I'll see you later!!

The Old Man IS Snoring

It's raining again!!! Yay!!! It poured for a couple of hours on Saturday night and then last night a huge boom of thunder woke me and Elli up about 3 AM in the morning. So it's a crap shoot as to whether or not Jim the Painter will be able to work today. I guess I will find out when I get home.

Well, if you are anything like me, then you cannot resist an offer that's too good to be true - or at least good enough to be true. So when I ordered the Calvin Klein dress and the Catherine Malandrino sweater from Saks a couple of weeks ago, they sent me an offer for buy one, get two free on all clearance items. Of course, I ordered. Two of the items came this weekend. First, a pair of Vigoss track pants.

They are heather gray knit in the front, and have an elasticized drawstring waist. In the back, they are pleather.

It's not stiff at all. Here's the detail on the waist band.

I haven't tried them on yet to see how they fit. I also got a Joan Vass waterfall cardigan.

It's a nice substantial knit, in strips of dark tan and black. The collar is very full, so it drapes really nicely.

If you are even more like me, then when you get something new that you really like, you can't wait to wear it.

Look how nice and full this cardi is!!! I wore it with old brown trousers and a black turtleneck. For a little pizazz, I tied and animal print belt around the waist.

Here's one more view of the sweater.

I didn't need a coat today with this sweater. I decided to wear a longer costume necklace with some colored stations and some animal stations.

I had a bit of a tough choice when it came to shoes. I know it would be a bootie day, but which ones?

                                                                                or

I guess the answer is obvious, since you can see my brown pants in the top picture. I think I will use the bottom pic to lure viewers in while participating (late) in Sheila's Shoe Shine Saturday at www.sheilaephemera.blogspot.com. It's always a fun linkup!!! Also, since it Monday, and we are talking shoes already, Cherie is hosting Shoe and Tell at www.stylenudge.com . The last linky will be with Rachelle at www.pinksole.com for How I Fall. She looks beautiful today, as always. Well, I hope you have a great Monday, and see you soon!!!

Hooray for Hollywood !!!

Well, I took a day off from blogging because I had to go to a seminar. More on that later. First, here is a picture of the set of my little PR piece for the hospital. Our company president will be using the footage in one of his webinars about patient safety.

This is an actual ICU bed. My part was done with an ICU RN, Tim. We stood at the bedside and delivered our message. I had two speaking parts and he had one. The lights were extremely bright.

Here's the cameraman, another Tim.

The webinar will be out in the next week or so. You can be sure that I will be keeping you updated!!

Our seminar was held at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry, which is east of Los Angeles. It's a nice resort with a spa and golf course.

And guess what? They were filming a TV show for VH1 called Hit The Floor. Here are the crew trucks in the Base Camp.

They unloaded gear all day long. We were there for 6.5 hours, and they were not even close to being set up. They were trying to convert the lobby into a casino. Here's some of the gear piled up outside the door.

Now compare their camera with the one that Tim used.

It's on the boom there. It was about 100 times bigger. One thing about Pacific Palms - the food is awesome. Here's my lunch.

I had Caesar salad, roasted veggies, pasta and artichoke salad, and cioppino with mussels, shrimp and scallops. I also had a couple of cake bites for dessert.  It was yummy.

After work, I took our Principessa for her beauty appointment.

You follow the blue paw prints.

Elli did a bit of browsing and sniffing before it was her turn.

She wore her new dress. Then she entered the portals of doom.

I could hear her squeaking and yowling and giving the nice lady a really hard time. But her manicure turned out perfectly.

So onto today. What am I wearing?

This is my old favorite Cache jacket. It's green tweed with a black organza overlay.

Underneath, I wore green INC slacks, a gold lurex Henley, and a printed top.

Note Elli's portrait hanging proudly in my office. With this top, I wore my weird green resin necklace.

I had originally wanted to wear my black high heeled booties, but I made a game day substitution for my olive green wedge booties.

On my left arm, a green enamel cuff and my Irish Claddagh wedding ring.

On my right arm, my creepy green ring from Nordstrom and two Honu bangles that I got at the Aloha Bowl swap meet on Oahu.

Last but not least. Every now and then, my brain needs a tune up. And how do I do that? Well, in HB, there is a scrabble club that meets every Tuesday at the IHOP on Beach Blvd, between Ellis and Garfield. They hold two sessions - 1 PM and 6PM. Each lasts about 3 hours, and 4 games are played. It's free, and so are sodas and coffee. They have a website, www.scrabbleclub34.wordpress.com if you want to see what goes on. If you or anybody you know lives near HB and wants to give it a try, by all means check it out. Here's the director, David, playing a game.

There are players of all levels here, from novice to expert, and David will pair you with someone of similar ability, so you will have lots of fun and stretch out your brain.

Onto more links, this time for fashion. Yesterday, I sadly missed Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com for Throwback Thursday, so I am linking today!!! Also, Kelsie at www.designlifediaries.com is hosting Rainy Day Style. It's going to rain al weekend here in SoCal. YAY for rain!!!. Lastly, pretty Vicki at www.mummysgotstyle.com for Fashion Friday.

Check out these three lovely ladies and this one brilliant guy, and have a great Friday!!!

I'm Ready For My Closeup, Mr DeMille

This afternoon, I am "starring" in a filmed piece that our hospital will use for marketing purposes. I will attempt to capture the moment. I brought a bag of makeup, etc, to touch myself up for my role. I did one of these once before, a couple of years ago.

But enough about that - you will be subjected to the gory details tomorrow. What am I wearing?

Since I need to look COMPLETELY professional, I went with a vey classic suit look. The skirt is Gucci, the sweater is Peck and Peck, and the jacket is Kasper. Here's a better look at the horsebit detail on the waist.

I wore my comfy, trusty Sesto Meucci black suede pumps with the red organza rosette.

I doubled up on necklaces - my long pearl Joan Rivers necklace, and a shorter garnet and gold pendant.

I also kept my arms classic and conservative. On the left, my wedding set and a gold/diamond bangle.

On my right, my enamel/crystal ring, and two garnet/gold bangles.

Also, I had some time before tennis, so I popped into Daiso, the new Japanese tchotchke store in my hood. While I was looking, this younger guy said the funniest thing. "We should tell Megan about this store - she loves to buy stupid stuff." HAHAHAHAHA. I also love to buy stupid stuff. The evidence:

Snow Pea chips. Junk food with vitamin content. My Ambrosia..

Foot items - black lace shoe liner socks, a toe separator for pedicures, and heel cups for shoes that slide off the heel.  My Nirvana.

A collagen face mask, and charcoal pore strips. My hemlock.

A plastic hanger ring for hand drying pantyhose. My Kryptonite. And of course, for my precious love,

Dog dresses!!! Here is my Mexican spitfire, modeling her new Hawaiian dress.

She looks good in pink. And she showed her gratitude for my little gift.

That's it, except for the links. First, as always, Lindsey at www.thepleatedpoppy.com for What I Wore Wednesday. Then, another new favorite, www.pastriespumpsandpi.blogspot.com for Who's Wearing What Wednesdays with Tameka. Lastly, Liz at www.shoppingmycloset.com for Style Me Wednesday.
