Garage Sale Finds

This weekend we had a neighborhood garage sale. The mission was to find some old containers, buckets and other items to put flowers and plants in when my grandson Joseph and I redo the front yard later this month. One of my neighbors saw me picking through the offerings and then told me that she had two tops that I would love - so I got them, too.

First, yesterday:

This top is from a brand called Metaphor, and it's a shiny pewter color with a soft, solid, ivory back. I wore it with some very old tweed pants from a brand called Sugar Lips. You will see the waistline detail below.

It was cold and cloudy yesterday, so I wore my ivory satin bomber jacket from Panama Joe on top.

I wore a faux onyx locket and a costume strand of assorted dark color beads.

Here's the waistband - the sequins are bronze, which helps tie in the necklace, and also my Tahari Maryjane shoes.

The shoes are taupe suede with copper tirm.

On my right arm, a tanzanite band and a multi-gemstone bracelet featuring larimar, pearls, and aurora borealis stones.

On my left arm, a round solitaire ring with a wide band and my leather/crystal cuff that I got as a souvenir in Baltimore.

Then, today, the other find:

This is a mesh T shirt with ivory Venice lace type embroidery on the front, sleeves, and shoulders. It is fully lined except for the sleeves. It's made by INC. I like that it is really long, so it's easy to tuck.

My skirt is  a very old charmeuse print from Notations. I saw an ad in In Style magazine - Dolce and Gabbana did the reverse mirror image type thing with floral prints, so I figured that ivory and black would be a good starting point for something like that.

I wore my White House Black Market double buckle belt.

My necklace is KJL, and was my mom's.

On my left arm, a black leather cuff and my white enamel/crystal ring from Saks.

Boho Babe, then Lady Who Lunches

My outfits from yesterday and today have been fairly schizophrenic. Yesterday, I was all bohemian with my turquoise accessories:

I am wearing a black and turquoise bolero and skirt, both by INC. I am a little disappointed in the skirt - it's not lined, so it tends to twist around and a slip is required.

The bolero is loaded with faux turquoise stones. I have the same sweater in brown with amber stones.

Here's a good look at the skirt, trying to twist the day away.

My necklace was a gift from Doc, from the Southwest Indian Foundation.

On my right arm, a turquoise/mother of pearl ring that Luke, Ashley and Preston gave me for Xmas one year. The bracelet was a gift from an old work place.

On my left arm, the turquoise bracelet was another gift from Doc, and I paired it with a marquise solitaire and a Swarovski multi-level band.

Today's look was totally opposite - a classy lady look.

This is a knit skirt from Style and Co, paired with a lurex sweater from August Silk, which I got last month at the Working Wardrobes sale.

I topped it all with a coat from Nanette Lepore. It has a matching dress, but you all know how I usually don't wear sets together.

You can see the pearls on the sweater here. I also wore my brown leather belt from Paloma Picasso that I got in Santa Barbara.

My costume necklace is from Macy's, but I don't know the brand.

On my right arm, my veiny boulder ring from Nordstrom, and a gold bracelet.

On my left arm, a tricolor gold bracelet and my yellow gold wedding set.

And that brings us to today's links - enjoy!!!

Bumble Bees and Flowers

Yesterday, I dressed like a bumble bee in the jacket and T shirt combo that I got at Stein Mart the other day:

I love it. I think it looks really cute. Doc said "You look like a movie star". Just call me Hollywood Rosie.

And fate being what it is, and me being the enthusiastic shopper that I am, I had a pair of black slacks with a sequined waist band. Look how well they go with the T shirt.

I busted out a very old costume necklace from Avon. It's gold tone with black and white bead stations.

On my right arm, my Hermes CDC and a pearl ring that was my mom's. Sadly, one of the pearls fell out, so I will take it to the jewelry repair and have it fixed.

On my left arm, my INC cuff that I got in Fort Lauderdale and my yellow gold wedding rings.

Onto today, where flower meets bumble bee.

Doc had to report for jury duty today, so I used some things on the desk to prop my camera up for selfies of my outfit.

The skirt is half of an INC suit. I have never worn the two pieces together, because it looks too much like a costume to me. The tiered silk tank is from White House Black Market, and the pink shrug with silver embroidery is from Liz Claiborne.

Here's a little closer view. Obviously, Doc is a much better photographer than me.

I wore two costume necklaces. The shorter one is Givenchy, and the longer one is of unknown provenance.

On my left arm, an onyx spaceship ring, and a costume bracelet with crystals.

On my right arm, two diamond tennis bracelets and a mabe pearl ring.

R and R for Rosie

Finally !!! A weekend without any emergencies !!! So I got to do pretty much anything I wanted to, and that included running in the park, going for a long bike ride on Sunday, getting new library books, cooking Sunday lunch, and shopping !!! Whew. So let's look. First, the shopping.

I got an email from Stein Mart. I haven't been there in a very long time. They sent me a coupon for 60% off the clearance prices. How could I refuse? First, I got a pirate sweater from Michael Kors.

This one is navy blue. I have a red Calvin Klein sweater in the same style, and I love it. This MK version has all the nice touches - big gold eyelets, and logo aglets. It was $59.99, down from $150, then 50% off for clearance, then 60% off of that, so $13. No wonder it was the only one left.

Then I got this jersey double knit skirt from Premier. I have never heard of that brand, but it might be a store brand. It ended up at $5.98 after all the discounts.

The last items are a jacket and T shirt set by Onque. The jacket is a warmup style with a front zip.

The T has sequin banding across the front - the sequins are clear, so whatever the color of the stripe is, that is what sparkles.

Here is what I was trying to explain.

And here is the set together. It just so happens that I have a pair of black dress slacks that have a black sequin waistband, so this is a match made in heaven. The set ended up at $21.

That was Friday night. On Saturday, I went for my run in Central Park, then we did some shopping, then we just relaxed and I started reading "The Eggnog Murders."

On Sunday, I gave my bike a once over with WD40 and went for a nice long ride. My butt is naturally a little sore today - that's what happens after the first bike ride of the year. When I got home, I cooked stir fry pork. Here is what I did:

I sauteed a chopped onion in olive oil.

Then I added a chopped green bell pepper.

Then, a chopped red bell pepper.

After that, two zucchini sliced, and then the slices halved.

I also added about one quarter of a head of cabbage.

I chopped up two thick pork steaks into chunks and cooked the whole thing for about 5 minutes. To season, I added salt, pepper, garlic, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sugar.

It was served on top of bowties.

Yum yum yum.

Back to work today, bah!! And I'll bet that you will never guess what I wore:

My new pirate sweater with an equestrian print pencil skirt from Charter Club. The chain belt is vintage. My suede shoes are from INC.

I wore a sapphire and diamond heart pendant. My mom had one just like it, so I gave that one to my DIL, Kim, since she was born in December.

On my right arm, a sapphire cocktail ring and two sapphire bracelets.

The same motif on the left arm, with a few diamonds thrown in.

And that just about wraps it up!!! Let's do our Monday linking:
