Big Old Bonanza

Since next week is Thanksgiving, there has been a flurry of activity here at the hospital. Not only do many of us have lots of time off scheduled (yay me!!), but all committees and meetings are dark in December. So I haven't been able to visit with my virtual buddies for a few days. So you get three outfits and two makeup boxes to see. Let's start with Wednesday:

I wore one of my ultra comfy Antthony Designs pants sets. This time, the red, black, and white number. I wore a black belt with silver studs and black and white Guess Mary Jane shoes.

I went with my silver braided necklace.

On my right arm, my Coleen Lopez garnet ring that I bought myself for my birthday last year, and a leather/crystal cuff that I got as one of my Baltimore souvenirs.

On my right arm, two silver bracelets, a ruby band, and a round solitaire set in white gold.

When I got home, my November Ipsy bag was waiting. The theme was RockStarlet.

Five products inside - a Doucce Freematic Blush in Orange, some Tarte oil for hair, skin and nails, and a Skin and Company Truffle Therapy Eye Contour Concentrate.

Also, a Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, and a Model Co Contour stick. i have heard great things about the mascara, and I will be using it next.

Then, we move to Thursday. Yesterday, we had another Statewide Disaster Exercise, where there were 1,000 pediatric casualties from a bus vs train accident. We had to practice moving them through our hospital and getting them the services they would need in terms of medical treatment, reunification with families, and unfortunately, post mortem services. We always learn A LOT from these pretend situations. This is what I wore:

This is actually a shark bite T shirt over a sleeveless shift dress. The T shirt has an animal print in gold foil on it, and the dress is vertically striped in ombre olive tones. I wore a thin leopard calf hair belt. The shoes are from Nordstrom, and they are Michael Antonio. The T shirt is Byer, and the dress, sadly, has a label that says Tuna.

On top, I wore an olive pleather jacket and bronze leather gloves. I forgot to take pictures of my jewelry.

Last night, my Birchbox came:

Here's what I got, from top to bottom:
1) Oribe Superfine Hairspray - love this brand
2) Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara
3) Balance Me Tinted Wonder Eye Cream
4) Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Oil - good for my super curly, frizzy hair.
5) Coastal scents Blush and Highlighter Duo

Overall, I love everything that I got this month. I think it really pays to go online and select the samples that you want in your boxes. Sometimes I forget to do that - boo.

Onto today - it's our first really  chilly day here in SoCal - the high will only reach 70 - the horror!!!!
Anyway, this is what I am wearing:

This is a Bebe sweater and a Limited heavy weight knit pencil skirt. My black suede BCBG boots finish the look.

On top. I wore my Newport News black and gold metallic tweed coat with the gold chain trim.

My black plastic waterfall necklace was perfect.

On my right arm, a citrine ring and a beaded cuff from the Chakra Shack in Laguna Beach.

On my left arm, my Hermes CDC and a costume ring from Banana Republic in Baltimore.

The Vintage Vixen

Today's dress is a crystal pleated acid trip flashback made by Robbie Bee. I remember that my mom had some dresses from that brand when I was a kid.

This is a cute dress of many colors that has a surplice neckline and most importantly, never needs ironing.

On top, since it was all foggy and misty this morning (making my hair frizz up incredibly) I wore my black moto jacket from Neiman Marcus.

This dress will go with just about any color gemstone, so I combined an emerald, a faux emerald, and a pale amethyst, all on gold rope chains.

On my right arm, an emerald and diamond ring, a tricolor gold bracelet, and a turquoise/tanzanite bracelet.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set and my Hermes CDC.

And that's about it for today, so let's link up.

Welcome to the Family !!

No, I didn't do something crazy like have a baby or buy a horse. I bought some horsepower, however. Behold Snowball!!!

She is a Mercedes Benz SLK 250. She is very sexy. She makes me look frumpy.

Here's a couple more views of her Polar White beauty.

She has a black interior and an automatic hard top. She also has a moon roof, so you can see the sky even with the top up.

Doc's Honda was showing lots of wear, but still has another 100k on the engine. So rotating cars is how we handled it. The Honda was given to our son, the Cadillac is now Doc's car, and Snowball is mine.

I have a pretty big meeting today, so I wore a tried and true suit. The skirt is Ann Taylor, the chambray colored top is Banana Republic and the jacket is Kasper.

One of my favorite outfits, and put together from separates.

My costume necklace is from Charming Charlie.

On my right arm, my matching enamel/crystal set from Saks.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set and two of my mom's bracelets. By the way, there has been no ghostly activity for about 10 days. I think my mom is now happy and has accepted my prayers and apologies.

My Checkered Past

No, I'm not talking about my little rap sheet. I'm talking about my Taylor dress from Nordstrom:

It's a crazy swirly mix of houndstooth patterns in different sizes. There is extra swirling due to the seaming used in the construction. I always wear a red ribbon belt.

For cold conference rooms at work, I wore my black lace bomber jacket from Bar III.

And one of my mom's convertible Joan Rivers necklaces.

On my right arm, a red leather cuff from INC, and two costume rings.

On my left arm, wedding rings and my Hermes CDC.

Just Blue

Yesterday, I had to go down to the cemetery in San Diego where my mom is entombed for some business and to say a final goodbye and good luck.

I don't know if this is creepy to some of you, but here goes. I wore Old Navy pants and a Joseph A top.

This necklace that I got at the hospital gift shop matched perfectly.

And a copper and crystal bracelet and a smoky topaz ring added the finishing touches.

So Doc and I arrived at exactly 11:11 AM.

Holy Cross Cemetery is the Catholic Diocesan cemetery in San Diego. It was 93 degrees down there yesterday.

As is true of all cemeteries, the grounds were peaceful and well tended, even though it's in a bad neighborhood very close to downtown.

We found the crypt right away. I remembered it from when my dad was buried in 1982.

They are together now.

We stayed for a few minutes and said our goodbyes and a prayer or two. Then we stopped for lunch at a Japanese restaurant and then came back home. It was smooth driving both ways.

Back to work today. This is what I wore:

This is an En Focus Studio lace knit dress. Very cute and comfy.

I wore a glass statement necklace with it and also a silver herringbone chain.

On my right arm, two silver bracelets and my sapphire/diamond band.

On my left arm, two diamond tennis bracelets and a large amethyst ring.

Lots of links today, since I didn't blog yesterday. Away we go!!

Feliz Cumpleanos

My poquita hermosa turned 15 today!!! Unbelievable - that means she is 102 in people years. We rescued her 5 years ago when she was 10. Senior dogs have increased needs and are more expensive, due to special food, medications, and vet bills. But my little Elli is worth every penny. Here she was as I was serenading her this morning:

All eyeballs. She got her favorite food and gets the run of the house today, even being allowed in rooms where she is usually banned. I'm sure she will enjoy violating the rules.

So what did I wear to celebrate this momentous occasion? (PS never mind the election, it's all Elli around here).

This is a Carole Little brocade skirt, topped with an iridescent purple button down from Express. On top, for some professional flair, I am wearing my Escada blazer with the sweater knit sleeves.

Here's a better look at the purple and black brocade.

My purple Austrian crystal necklace was the perfect complement

On my right arm, a pewter and black crystal costume bracelet.

On my left arm, two amethyst bracelets. You can really see the difference in the color of the stones.

And that is all for today. Linking with www.theblushblonde.com, www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com and www.northwestblonde.com

Have a great Election Dae (Elli's real name) and get out and vote!!!
