Welcome to the Family !!

No, I didn't do something crazy like have a baby or buy a horse. I bought some horsepower, however. Behold Snowball!!!

She is a Mercedes Benz SLK 250. She is very sexy. She makes me look frumpy.

Here's a couple more views of her Polar White beauty.

She has a black interior and an automatic hard top. She also has a moon roof, so you can see the sky even with the top up.

Doc's Honda was showing lots of wear, but still has another 100k on the engine. So rotating cars is how we handled it. The Honda was given to our son, the Cadillac is now Doc's car, and Snowball is mine.

I have a pretty big meeting today, so I wore a tried and true suit. The skirt is Ann Taylor, the chambray colored top is Banana Republic and the jacket is Kasper.

One of my favorite outfits, and put together from separates.

My costume necklace is from Charming Charlie.

On my right arm, my matching enamel/crystal set from Saks.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set and two of my mom's bracelets. By the way, there has been no ghostly activity for about 10 days. I think my mom is now happy and has accepted my prayers and apologies.

My Checkered Past

No, I'm not talking about my little rap sheet. I'm talking about my Taylor dress from Nordstrom:

It's a crazy swirly mix of houndstooth patterns in different sizes. There is extra swirling due to the seaming used in the construction. I always wear a red ribbon belt.

For cold conference rooms at work, I wore my black lace bomber jacket from Bar III.

And one of my mom's convertible Joan Rivers necklaces.

On my right arm, a red leather cuff from INC, and two costume rings.

On my left arm, wedding rings and my Hermes CDC.

Just Blue

Yesterday, I had to go down to the cemetery in San Diego where my mom is entombed for some business and to say a final goodbye and good luck.

I don't know if this is creepy to some of you, but here goes. I wore Old Navy pants and a Joseph A top.

This necklace that I got at the hospital gift shop matched perfectly.

And a copper and crystal bracelet and a smoky topaz ring added the finishing touches.

So Doc and I arrived at exactly 11:11 AM.

Holy Cross Cemetery is the Catholic Diocesan cemetery in San Diego. It was 93 degrees down there yesterday.

As is true of all cemeteries, the grounds were peaceful and well tended, even though it's in a bad neighborhood very close to downtown.

We found the crypt right away. I remembered it from when my dad was buried in 1982.

They are together now.

We stayed for a few minutes and said our goodbyes and a prayer or two. Then we stopped for lunch at a Japanese restaurant and then came back home. It was smooth driving both ways.

Back to work today. This is what I wore:

This is an En Focus Studio lace knit dress. Very cute and comfy.

I wore a glass statement necklace with it and also a silver herringbone chain.

On my right arm, two silver bracelets and my sapphire/diamond band.

On my left arm, two diamond tennis bracelets and a large amethyst ring.

Lots of links today, since I didn't blog yesterday. Away we go!!

Feliz Cumpleanos

My poquita hermosa turned 15 today!!! Unbelievable - that means she is 102 in people years. We rescued her 5 years ago when she was 10. Senior dogs have increased needs and are more expensive, due to special food, medications, and vet bills. But my little Elli is worth every penny. Here she was as I was serenading her this morning:

All eyeballs. She got her favorite food and gets the run of the house today, even being allowed in rooms where she is usually banned. I'm sure she will enjoy violating the rules.

So what did I wear to celebrate this momentous occasion? (PS never mind the election, it's all Elli around here).

This is a Carole Little brocade skirt, topped with an iridescent purple button down from Express. On top, for some professional flair, I am wearing my Escada blazer with the sweater knit sleeves.

Here's a better look at the purple and black brocade.

My purple Austrian crystal necklace was the perfect complement

On my right arm, a pewter and black crystal costume bracelet.

On my left arm, two amethyst bracelets. You can really see the difference in the color of the stones.

And that is all for today. Linking with www.theblushblonde.com, www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com and www.northwestblonde.com

Have a great Election Dae (Elli's real name) and get out and vote!!!

Spelling for Peace

So, I told you that there has been poltergeist activity around our house. This Wednesday, we are going to the cemetery where my mom is buried to try and calm her down. This weekend, I took the first step toward helping her find peace. First, I set up a collection of things on the cedar chest that she left me.

Then, I got out the candles that I bought in New Orleans, plus a few other supplies that were on hand.

The black candle is for protection and the white one is for purification.  I anointed them with Sweet Dreams oil. I rubbed them from top to bottom, because I want to draw the purity and protection in towards me. If you want to repel something, you anoint them from the bottom outward.

Then I put them in holders to burn. They both lit up right away. If you have trouble lighting them, that may mean that your intentions need to be examined more closely.

I put the lighted candles on my mom's antique sewing machine.

I also had two sticks of white sage. I put them in vases that were empty and then put the vases on furniture that was my mom's.

There was a bag of sage crumbles. I anointed that with Sweet Dreams also.

Then I put it into a mesh bag and put that in the box where I keep my mom's jewelry.

The candles took about 8 hours to burn. They burned completely -  not a speck was left, which is a good sign that your intentions have been accepted.

So, onto what I am wearing today. This silky skirt is from Liz Claiborne. The tank top is reversible, but has no label, so I don't know who makes it.

And on top, my black sating swing jacket.

I got this costume necklace at Stein Mart.

On my right arm, a sapphire/diamond ring and tennis bracelet, and a silver bracelet.

On my right arm, the two bracelets that match the necklace, a sapphire band, and my mom's diamond.

Here's a better look. It's about one carat.

So that's it for today, except for some links.
