In An Octopus' Garden in the Sea

That's what my dress reminds me of :

This is a dress by Bar III. I have a few dresses from that brand and I like them. I bought it last summer during clearance, and forgot about it until the other day. With it, I wore the Jessica Simpson shoes of awesomeness that I got for 1 cent at Nordstrom Rack.
Here's a close up of the print on the silk dress. It reminds me of coral.

For my necklace, I wore my convertible Joan Rivers pendant/pin and a gold serpentine chain.

On my right arm, a tanzanite cluster ring, a pink coral bracelet from Maui Divers, a gold diamond cut bracelet, and a blue topaz bracelet.

On my left arm, a bunch of aluminum bangles and an opal ring.

Last night, my August Ipsy glam bag came. Everything in it was something I can use.

The first three items are :
1) It Cosmetics Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
2) Organic Pharmacy Rose Facial Cleansing Gel. Already used this - it's nice.
3) Ciate Nail Varnish in Springtime Petals. I love this brand, and this is a full size bottle.

The last two items:
1) Nomad Eyeshadow in Spice Market . I didn't open this one since it's sealed, so I don't yet know what the color is like.
2) Symphony Beauty Moisturise Cucumber and Aloe Vera Makeup Cleansing wipes - I used this also, and they are giant - tonight I will cut them int two pieces. I got 10, so that will make 20 of them.
They feel very soothing.

Don't Fence Me In

I was AWOL on Friday. I had to stay home to get the fences and gates installed. It went well, and they are beautiful.

This is the gate that leads from the driveway into the backyard.

This is the dog run gate. This view is looking out toward the main yard.

This is the dog run gate from the main yard looking in. I had trim put on the top so I can peek over and see what my dastardly mutts are up to when they are in there.

And this is the enclosure for the pool equipment. This piece took a long time for them to finish.

On Saturday, I went for a run through Huntington Beach Central Park.

I took a few pictures of the lake as I ran around it. At the very end, there was the Egyptian Geese family, mingling with the giant white geese. Everyone seemed to be getting along.

On Sunday, we went down to the new dining/shopping venue, called Pacific City. We ate at a BBQ called the Old Crow Smokehouse. I had burnt ends - yum.

As you can see, it was a beautiful day here in HB.

So today, back to work.. Here's what I wore:

This is a moleskin pencil skirt with an XOXO top. It is supposed to be very hot today - mid 80s at the coast. My job is about 5 miles inland, so it's a little warmer here.

You can see the embellishment on the top here. I wore a Joan Rivers convertible necklace.

On my right arm, a ruby bracelet, a gold bracelet, a gold ring, and a costume ring.

On my left arm, a leather cuff from INC and my yellow gold wedding set.

Black Dress BooBoo

I haven't worn this black dress in a long time. It had some white spots on one sleeve that looked like paint and I never really investigated. So when I dug it out of the closet the other day, I noticed the spots again. I figured that I should try to remove them, since the dress was ruined anyway, and it turned out to be detergent residue. So the dress has been resurrected.

It's a faux wrap around style. What you can't see is that the sleeves are cold shoulder style. It's old enough that cold shoulders have come back around again.

I wore my INC crystal necklace that I got in Las Vegas in March.

On my left arm, one of the matching INC bracelets, and a tanzanite ring.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set and the other matching INC bracelet.

My August Birchbox came yesterday. From top to bottom:
1) Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Leave In Conditioner
2) Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel
3) The Organic Pharmacy Enzyme Peel Mask with Vitamin C and Papaya - used it last night. The verdict - nice, but not a miracle elixir
4) Manna Kadar Cosmetics - The Day Dream Palette - two eye color shades that are universal and I will use them, no doubt.
5) Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray - this was my request item. I love Oribe, but it is very pricy, so when I get a chance for a freebie, I take it. It makes great beachy waves.

Doc brought home such a big bunch of sunflowers that I had to split them up into two bouquets. The stems were enormous. They should last a long time. Last week, Doc was disappointed that the beautiful roses her bought died quickly. Sunflowers are much more hardy.

Long Lost Lavender

Today, I am wearing two items that I haven't worn in a long time. I actually picked out the skirt first and then saw the top when I was looking for something to match.

I don't remember where I got the satin top, but the skirt came from Stein Mart. I haven't shopped there in a while. Nowadays, I do most of my shopping online. If the store offers free shipping and returns, then why not?

I wore a purple statement necklace over the ruffles. I didn't know if that was going to work out, but it did.

On my right arm, an amethyst ring, an amethyst tennis bracelet, and a turquoise/tanzanite bracelet.

On my left arm, a lavender  jade bracelet, and my yellow gold wedding set.

And that's it - short and sweet. Now for a ton of links:

We're In The Army Now

I am referring to my Loft dress that is mostly military colors:

I love this dress. It is a full swing style, but I belt it, since I don't really have enough shape to wear a tent style dress (although that would be uber comfy).

Believe it or not, I didn't buy this necklace at the same time as the dress. I have had it for a long time, but I cannot imagine finding one that matches better.

On my right arm, my Swarovski Nirvana in Black Diamond, and a leather horsebit handmade bracelet.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set, a thick gold bracelet, and a scarab bracelet.

And here are grandson Preston's official second grade pictures. He is a soccer star, along with being just an all around super star in my book !!!

And the Band Played On

Today, I am wearing a dress from Merona that reminds me of a band uniform:

It's navy on the bottom and turquoise on the top. As you can see, it has a texture that reminds me of raw silk. The zig zags are made of self fabric. It's fully lined.

Here are the two necklaces I am wearing. The shorter one is a diamond heart pendant and the longer one is a Joan Rivers convertible with an interchangeable stone - this time I used teal.

On my right arm, a sapphire/diamond ring, a gold bracelet, and a sapphire bracelet.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set, a diamond bracelet and a sapphire bracelet.

I didn't do too much this weekend. But on Sunday, I went to Ulta. They are having a gift with purchase. I needed a couple of things, and I love a free gift.

I bought a foundation brush and some matte eye shadow in Buttercream. This is the bag before I opened it.

The first six items - lip liner in Berry and Flesh, eye liner in Blackout and Cobalt, Matte lipstick in Mulberry, Mineral Lipgloss  in Sheer Opal, and a pencil sharpener.

The next five items - an eyeshadow brush, a blush brush, nail polish in Aubergine, Mineral Setting Powder, and Plush Drama Mascara.

And finally, a palette that seems to have a little of everything.

And that's about it, except for the links - www.elegantlyfashionable.com, www.stylenudge.com, and www.notdeadyetstyle.com.

Have a great day and I'll see you soon!!!
