Outbreak!!!! Quarantine !!!!

We went down to visit my mom in the skilled nursing unit on Saturday. When we got there, a sign was posted on the door that said that the facility was under quarantine for Norovirus. That's the bug that causes the stomach flu. So we were only allowed to go in and say Hi without touching anyone or anything. She looks a little bit better every time I see her. We said hello, and then scrammed outta there. On the way home, we stopped at a Filipino deli called Pinoy.

I had ribs Adobo, some pork dish, rice, and pancit. It was delicious, and the portions were huge. Then, we passed by Irvine Spectrum, an outdoor mall that I have never gone to. Doc wanted to go to Barnes and Noble. We noticed that the parking lot was absolutely jammed, but didn't think much of it. It turns out that the Macy's down there was going out of business. They were basically giving stuff away. The pickins were getting slim, but I did snag two tops.

The first one is made by New York Collection. It's deep forest green with shiny silver dots all over it. The back has a tie neckline, The second one is made by Style and Co.

It's a nubby sweatshirt style, with a gold and silver metallic houndstooth pattern, and a chiffon hem.

There was a group of 6-8 ladies there in hijab. They were handing out long stem roses and were doing a public relations event called Meet a Muslim. They were all very beautiful and very welcoming.

Each rose came with a lovely quote by the Prophet Muhammad. It was a very sweet gesture.

When we got home, my new Ipsy bag was in the mail. Ipsy is similar to Birchbox, and I figured that I would try it, since I love Birchbox, and I don't subscribe to any magazines anymore. Here's what I got -  by the way, Ipsy is also $10 per month.

I got a cosmetics pouch, and the following itmes:

1) A TheBalm Mr Write Now eyeliner
2) Coastal Scents Pearl Shadow Angle Brush
3) Mitchell and Peach body cream in English Leaf
4) City Color Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio in Falling Leaves
5) pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4 in 1 Eye Adore Serum

So lately, I have been getting a birthday card almost every day from our CPA. I figured he was joking around with me since I have known him so long.

Then I received this card in the mail.

HAAAAAA. And who, you might ask, is Nacho Tango?

Darrel's chihuahua, and Elli's newest crush.

So what am I wearing today?  (Pssst ..  the color of the day is silver)

My new green blouse with the silver dots, and old ivory slacks. For my necklaces, I doubled up.

A long Swarovkski chain, and the shorter one that I got at Ann Taylor in Orlando.Since the pants are very long, I debuted my very tall Coach shoes.

They are surprisingly comfy. And that's about all for today, except a bunch of links. Melissa at www.mahogany-closet.com has Mahogany Closet Monday. Love Will Keep Us Together

As I have told you, Elli loves being the Brand Ambassador/Spokesmodel for Beach Medical. She resumed her post yesterday, and as soon as she was available, a chart was up for her:

Her BFF Renee helped her prepare for her first patient, and then off they went.

It seemed like this particular visit was taking a while. The room was tied up for far too long. Then, it was noticed that another member of the Beach Medical staff was MIA.

Oh Dr T !!!! Elli is back in your arms!!!! Well, after the discovery of this little goldbricking incident, Elli was sent back to her own office.

Once there, she began happy hour a little early. That's our Elli !!!

Today's Magical Calendar color is purple. However, I chose to buck the trend and use purple as an accent color. It appears in my sweater.

It also makes an appearance in my shoes.

Underneath, I have a Karen Millen dress that my MIL,  Mimi , got for me in her "bargain shop." She didn't recognize the designer label, but she did notice the fine construction and the full lining.

It's sort of a denim type fabirc. As you can see, it has a diagonal zipper detail. The sleeves also have some origami type folding going on there.

And the pockets have several rows of decorative topstitching.

I wore a blue waterfall necklace made of teardrop stones that have some iridescence.

On my right arm, an amethyst/opal ring, a sapphire tennis bracelet, and a crystal bracelet.

On my left arm, two stretchy bracelets that match the necklace, a sapphire/diamond eternity band, and a teardrop solitaire.

And that's it for a long awaited Friday!!! Three links today - Jo Lynne at www.jolynneshane.com has Fashion Friday, Deb at www.elegantlyfashionable.com has Fab Friday, and Dawn Lucy at www.fashionshouldbefun.com has Fun Fashion Friday.

A Little Breathing Room

No, not in my pants or skirt. Now that my mom is rehabbing it in the skilled nursing facility, whenever I have a few minutes to spare, I go see her. It's about a 25 minute drive from work. But I went and had lunch with her and another old doll named Flo yesterday, so I don't have to go again until this weekend. Anyway, Today's Magical Calendar color is green.

This little game of mine really does inspire me to wear some items that have been ignored. This beautiful suit is a good example. It's made by Cache, and the tweed jacket has an iridescent overlay.

It has lime green flecks and lime green lining. The skirt is leather, embossed with a crocodile pattern. With it, I wore a lime knit sweater by August Silk.

I doubled up on emerald necklaces. I also wore a pair of shoes that (understandably) doesn't get much action.

They are by Charles David, and they coordinate perfectly with this outfit.

As you know, Thursday is Elli's day as Spokesmodel for Beach Medical. Doc takes her into work while the housekeeper cleans. That way, Elli isn't underfoot and bothering Amy. Last night, I packed her mobile office up for her.

Inside, we have her monkey fleece blanket, her Gooby harness, two pee pads, poo bags, two bowls, some dry food and some Cesar tiny dog food. I let her do the final run through inspection.

Once she had verified that all her needs would be attended to, she began her escape.

She did pretty good - she lasted almost ten seconds.

She got a good grip on the ledge, harkening back to her days as a gymnast on the balance beam.

And up and out. You would think that she wanted nothing to do with that darn blue box. But lo and behold, this was the scene in the morning.

Officer Ellster Bellster Bellsty Boo ready for duty!!!

Let's do our Thursday links. Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com has Throwback Thursday, and then Nicole at www.highlatitudestyle.com has Top of The World Style!!!

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!!!

Beige Doesn't Have to Be Boring

Today's color from the Magical Calendar is white, but I have that covered forever, since I wear a white exam jacket at the hospital. So I was free to get creative and wear whatever my little heart desires. Here is the result:

This is a tan leather pencil skirt, topped with a Joseph A sweater. I took the opportunity to wear my new Calvin Klein belt that I picked up in Orlando.

Here's a closer look at the rocks around the neckline of the sweater, as well as my statement necklace.

I went with my Mix No 6 shoes from Nordstrom.

On my right arm, my matching Swarovski pieces - a Nirvana ring in Black Diamond, and the Infinity bracelet.

On my left arm, a handmade leather bracelet, and my creepy green ring, also from Nordstrom.

Then I put on my gold lurex blazer from Love 21, and my bronze leather gloves. This got the Elli seal of approval.

I have been a little sick since Sunday, and didn't have the energy to show you my latest purchase from Evine. It's a Donna Salyer faux chinchilla weekender bag.

Here's a closeup of the thick beautiful faux fur.

It's a nice big bag. It can easily hold a weekend's worth of stuff. I'll be using it later this month.

Of course, the big silver logo. When it came, Elli inspected the package and it's contents.

She liked it initially, but needed to get a closer look.

She eventually deemed it plush and nap worthy.

Also, my January Birchbox arrived. It was addressed to "The Vivacious Rosemary Holtzman". Indeed.

From left to right:
1) Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray - I have gotten a few Amika products and loved them.
2) Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion - one of my all time favorites. Clinique runs their gift with purchase in April and October. This will tide me over until then.
3) Eyeko Fat Liquid Liner - liquid liner scares me, but I'll give it a try.
4) Oribe Cote d'Azur Eau de parfum - didn't smell it yet so we will see.
5) Whish Coconut CC Body Cream - smells good, is supposed to leave a shimmer.
