Wednesday's Not Wet !!!

We had our little rain storm last night, so my tennis class got cancelled. When that happens, we have a make up session added on at the end, so we get our full 11 lessons. However, it was still cold this morning, so I took the opportunity to wear something that will most likely be seeing it's last outing of the year.

I am wearing my JoanVass waterfall sweater from Neiman Marcus, with a suede maxi skirt from Coldwater Creek, and a V neck sweater from INC. Here's the look without the Joan Vass.

This skirt is very full and swishy. The last time I wore it, I kept hearing it flapping and thinking that someone was right behind me. That happened again this morning.

Unfortunately, my shoes are biting the dust, and they are one of my favorites. Maybe they can be fixed. I can also look on EBay and see if I can find the same or a similar pair.

Notice that I am wearing leopard patterned tights under my skirt - that will be our secret!!! I chose my freshwater pearl torsade for my necklace today.

Continuing the earth tone theme, here is my left hand.

I have a costume turtle bracelet from Ebay and a costume ring from H&M. On my right hand,

A copper souvenir American Indian cuff that I have had since teenager-hood, and a carved amber ring. I even coordinated my handbag (although I usually do).

So that's about it for this slightly chilly day. Since it's Wednesday, I am linking up with Lindsey at www.thepleatedpoppy.com for What I wore. Also, Liz at www.shoppingmycloset.com is hosting Style Me Wednesday. And then, for an extra treat, Tameka at www.pastriespumpsandpi.blogspot.com has Who's Wearing What. Have a great day, and I'll see you soon!!!

A Chilly, Cheery Cherry

Hey now!!! We are actually supposed to get some rain today!!! As it is, I am usually very careful when it comes to resources. For some reason, electricity has gone way up in price. Last month, my bill for my little house was $127. So I did small things like turn out lights when I am not using them, only have one TV going at a time, and not use the big chandelier with all the bulbs. This month?? $56. I know that Daylight Saving Time had a little to do with that, but I am still proud. I have likewise been conserving water when possible - shorter showers, not washing down concrete, etc, but I am thrilled to hear about the rain.

So what am I wearing to face the elements?

I topped my dress with my tweed lurex Newport News coat. Underneath, I have the Calvin Klein dress that I got at the after Christmas sales at Saks.

It has the stud detail at the neckline and down the front. The studs mimic a curvy shape.

So how does it look on? Pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. I find CK to be very flattering and well made.

I decided to wear my David Aaron Black and gold shoes, since they seemed to be a good counterpart to the coat.

Jewelry was red and gold, of course. On my left hand, my wedding set and two gold bracelets.

On my right arm, a ruby cocktail ring, a ruby bracelet, and a garnet bracelet.

That's about all I have to tell you today, except that I tried the Nads Eyebrow Wand after seeing it on TV.

Product Details

I was less than thrilled. But it may have been that the nubbles I was trying to remove were too short, or I didn't leave it on long enough. I will be looking for a YouTube video to see if the problem was me.

Onto the links!!! Two old favorites of mine, Lauren at www.stylelixir.com for Trend Spin, and Amber at www.induffinitely.blogspot.com for Tremendous Tuesday. Then, I got an email to join Cheryl at www.ohtobeamuse.com, so I think I shall. Have a great Tuesday, and I'll let you know tomorrow whether I get to play tennis tonight, or if it gets rained out, and I get to hang with Elli.

A Wild and Wooly Weekend

We will start with the wooly. I hope it's spelled right - it looked weird either way. Recall that Nordstrom Rack had a 25% Easter sale. I got this wooly grey stole. It will probably be too warm to wear it until next year, but now I will have something to look forward to :).

I also got a necklace that has faceted black cabochons surrounded by tiny grey beads.

Then I got a pair of Nine West shoes in ........wait.....wait.....grey!!!

I must have had something grey stuck in my brain. But I did get a pair of TAN comfort shoes for work, made by Serene.

That about does it for Good Friday bargain shopping. Onto the wild. We celebrated Easter with our grandkids on Saturday, since they had church activities all day Sunday. First, here's Preston after his Easter egg hunt.

Looks like he did well. Then, here's Joseph holding something from his basket.

Benjamin got the same monkey in his basket, only brown instead of purple.

I didn't get a picture of little Calista. She was quite upset because her mommy was fixing her hair in pigtails, and she doesn't like that, even though it looks super cute when it's done.  So we let the boys take Elli for a walk while Calista chilled out.

We also climbed trees with them (at least I did) and played Red Light Green Light.

A wonderful time was had by all, even Elli.

On Sunday, I took my mom to church. I took the opportunity to wear the full St John suit.

Here's a better look at the jacket and it's cool buttons.

I wore my emerald necklace for a touch o' the blarney.

On my left hand, my wedding set and a stretch crystal bracelet.

On my right hand, an enamel/crystal ring and a few gold bracelets.

I wore my INC black suede studded pumps.

I carried my vintage Cartier Panthere purse.

When I got home from that delightful experience ( sarcasm intended - my mom's church is a veritable goldmine of angry little people in walkers), Doc and I went to Gong's Chinese restaurant for lunch. It was packed, like all Chinese restaurants on holidays. It was deelish, and Gong was happy to see us. It's his 35th anniversary in the chow mein biz.

Onto today. I am wearing the muumuu dress I got last week or the week before. I wore a denim jacket from Nordstrom on top.

Here's the dress without the jacket.

My new necklace went perfectly - I sorta had this dress in mind when I selected it.

Also, my new grey Nine West shoes seemed to be perfect.

On my left arm, a stretchy plastic bracelet and my enamel/crystal ring. I like how the chevrons echo the dress.

On my right hand, another stretchy plastic bracelet and a sapphire ring.

Whew. All that's left are the all important links!!! Of course, Patti at www.notdeadyetstyle.com is hosting Visible Monday. Then, lovely Rachelle at www.pinksole.com is having How I Spring. I'll bet there are lots of Easter outfits there!!! And finally, Rhea at www.rheaetcetera.com is having Style to Inspire - and she does!!! Have a great day, and sorry I talked so much today !!!

Bunnies For Easter?

I have wondered why one of the symbols for Easter is the bunny. The theory I have heard is that bunnies (and eggs) represent a new beginning, and rebirth. But we have a better symbol than that in our family - our new grandnephew, Sutter Paul.

8 pounds, 12 ounces - a whopper. He lives in San Francisco with his parents. Welcome to the family!!!

I have a friend who never got an Easter basket because they are Jewish. (go figure). So I tried to make a Passover themed basket, but it didn't exactly go as expected. Here are the ingredients:

A lemon pie, some chocolate donuts, some chocolate coins, a chocolate duck, and some jellybeans in sports themed eggs. The only thing I could get that was at all related to the Jewish faith is a blue basket. I know that blue is a Hanukah color, but I tried!!

Here's the finished product - I hope they will enjoy it anyway!!!

Chag Semeach to all!!!

More importantly, what am I wearing today?

I have on a vintage silk midi skirt, with a Romeo and Juliet Couture embellished T shirt. Let's get a better look at the beading on the T shirt.

The color can best be described as hematite. So, I wore a hematite necklace, of course.

The midi skirt is a riot of color and pattern. You can see that here.

I also wore brown pumps with cork soles, and a brown braided belt.

On my left arm, a silver Brighton bracelet, and an iron cross ring.

On my right arm, another silver bangle and a faux blue stone ring that is so gaudy that it's awesome!!

Wanna know what else is awesome?? Elli, in her football jersey.

Apparently, she is number 18 on the team.

And the "Star". Hopefully, she will live for 18 years - sometimes Chihuahuas do that.

Onto the links!!! Of course, sweet beautiful Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com for Throwback Thursday - this week, I actually gave it some thought - this skirt is a 70s throwback!!. And then, one linkup that I haven't joined in a looonnnggg time - Tara at www.mixmatchfashion.com. Tara specializes in work wear, but since she's on Spring Break, we can link anything!!! But I stuck with work wear (since I have to work, unlike lucky Tara). Have a great day!!!
