The Beatles said it best - "all you need is Love, Love is all you need." I agree. I am so lucky!!! Okay, enough mush. Let's get to the jam packed weekend post !!
First, on Friday night, I got my Birchbox for September.
Why, Thank You !!! Here's what was inside:
1) Tocca Esfoliante da Corpo in Giulietta - a sugar and olive oil exfoliant
2) Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium - giving this away, because I have black brows.
3) Malin and Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser and hyaluronic acid cream - I can always use these
4) L'Artisan Parfumeur in La Chasse Aux Papillons - orang blossom, jasmine, lime, and tuberose
5) amika The Shield Style Extending Spray - A heat activated formula that protects against heat and UV.
I will let you know how these work out. I did use one of the products from a previous Birchbox last night:
Masqueology Mushroom Extract Pore Minimizing Masque - very lush and soft. Even Doc said my face looked great. I will be buying more of these. I also went to Ulta and got a Beauty Blender.
You wet it, wring it out, and it expands. Then you use it to stipple your makeup on for a flawless finish. I think this also worked really well. I'll let you know how long it lasts.
On Saturday, we went to the Pacific Islander Fair at HB Central Park.
It was hot. Here was the booth with the VIPS. There were lots of islands represented.
There were lots of demonstrations of native dancing. Here were the famous hula dancers.
The ones in red were teenagers, and called wahine. Their dance was almost entirely done in a squatting position. They must have some strong legs!!!
Then we hit the food booths. First stop, Samoa.
This plate lunch had chicken, sausage, pancit, rice and fried plantains. We liked it all, except the plantains - they are a bit bland. The pancit is very flavorful, more so than Chinese Lo Mein.
Then we hit the booth from Guam.
This is called Chicken Kelaguen. It is a chopped chicken dish, spiced with rice vinegar, pepper and chilis. It is served with a thick flat bread called titiyas. It was good. Finally, we hit the beautiful islands of Hawai'i - one of my favorite places on earth. We had Lau Lau.
This dish is pork and butterfish, wrapped in taro leaves. The taro reminds me of collard greens. Then the package is wrapped in ti leaves and steamed. You don't eat the ti leaves. It came with rice, watermelon, and spam musubi. It was a very fun event.
So, it's kind of amazing that I fit into my clothes today :).
I am wearing a beautiful snow white pantsuit from Jones New York. There are pockets in both the pants and jacket. Underneath, I have a mango colored tank from Cache.
There are mango crystals along the zipper and pull. The mesh necklace is by Avon. I wore floral Anne Klein D'orsay pumps.
On my right arm, my Saks white enamel/crystal ring and bracelet duo.
On my left arm, my Neiman Marcus crystal/bead bracelet, and a gold ring, topped by a garnet/blue topaz ring.
I'll quickly do some linking. First, Patti at

One more thing - there seems to be a rash of black widow spiders around SoCal lately. This spider bite is said to be the most painful insect bite one can endure - much worse than a rattlesnake. Doc found a mama, a baby, and an egg sack in our patio.
This is what they look like. Be careful!!!! See you all later !!!
