There Are Spots Before My Eyes

Maybe I had better go see the opthamologist?  Looky here at all these spots!!!

They are on my Sharagano skirt.

They are also on my INC top.

They are also on my EBay malachite necklace.

Well, if you see them too, maybe I'm okay. I'll wait to see the doctor, since they're not on my lace back jacket :)

Onto the gems!!! On my left

A malachite bracelet and a wedding set featuring a pear shaped diamond. On my right,

A tanzanite ring and a seraphinite bracelet. And that's it, for this very hot day, estimated to get into the high 80s.

Last night, my MIL gave me a couple of things from the "bargain store." First, the INC top from above.

It's covered in silver studs of varying sizes. I love draped cowl necks like this one. She also gave me a Chico's vest that is all lace on the back, and embellishment on the front.

And last, a cute no-name dress. It's grey-blue with ruffly mesh details like the Kenneth Cole T shirt that I wore yesterday (and was wearing when she came over).

I will be taking this little number to my conference in a couple of weeks. It looks pretty care free and un-wrinkleable.

So let's link, shall we? As always on Thursday, Alice from www.happinessatmidlife.com is hosting Throwback Thursday. She is so sweet - she always thanks me for joining and comments on my little blog. Then, Tara at www.mixmatchfashion.com is having What I Wore to Work. Also, another Tara, this time from www.pennilesssocialite.blogspot.com is hosting Look What I Got. (I will probably always qualify for that one, since I always get stuff). Last, Jalynn from www.theredclosetdiary.com is having What I Wore Today.  If you like looking at lots of beautiful styles, give these guys a try. And have a great Thursday (it's PAYDAY, YAYYYY).

DJ, You Dirty Guy!!!!

When I was a kid, there was a cartoon called Beany and Cecil. Cecil was a seasick sea serpent. The bad guy was Dishonest John, and Cecil would scream "DJ, You Dirty Guy!!" How does this concern me?

Well, last night, we attended Game 5 of the Clippers vs Spurs in Round One of the NBA playoffs. It was neck and neck all night long, and at the last second, Deandre Jordan tipped a shot in and got called for goaltending. If he hadn't fouled, we would have won the game. But.......he  did, and we lost.

DJ, you dirty guy!!!!! Now it's sudden death for the Clips in games 6 and (hopefully) 7. Here was the scene at Staples Center.

Pretty crazy. The halftime entertainer was a guy called Red Foo. He was terrible, and almost nobody clapped.

So how did this dude get to perform at halftime in the NBA playoffs? Well, in 2006, he formed a two man group called LMFAO with his nephew, Sky Blu. And now, the real reason - Red Foo is Berry Gordy's youngest son. Berry Gordy is the founder of Motown. Maybe Foo should stick to spending his Motown money.

For our efforts, which were noble and mighty, we received a fan appreciation towel.

I can always use this. Maybe Elli would like it for her crate.

Anyway, I got home about midnight, showered and jumped into bed. And amazingly enough, I made it to work by 8 AM. Why? Because I prepared my outfit ahead of time. Here it is:

This is a tiered mesh skirt by INC with a satin swing jacket that I got at Kohls. Underneath is a grey T with ruffly embellishment around the neckline, made by Kenneth Cole.

Here's a better look at the T, along with my faux silver chain.

I wore silver jewelry, and gasp ....... no belt!!! On my left hand,

A seraphinite bracelet from Southwest Indian Foundation, a round solitaire, and a wide eternity band that I just recently had repaired - one of the square stones in the center fell out and I lost it when I went to see Dr Phil.  On my right hand,

A rectangular citrine ring, and a leather cuff with mother of pearl. I wore the same shoes as yesterday because they were still on the floor.

So that's it for today. Onto the usual suspects when it comes to Wednesday linking. There is Lindsey at www.thepleatedpoppy.com for What I Wore, Tameka at www.pastriespumpsandpi.blogspot.com for Who's Wearing What Wednesday, and Liz at www.shoppingmycloset.com for Style Me Wednesday. All these gals are some of my favorites, so they will be on regular rotation. I am pretty sure that tonight will be dull - workout, walk dogs, snooze. I'll see you on the back side!!!

Tuesday's Child Is Full of Grace

I am really hoping HARD that I look graceful today - or at least, a little less dorky. I have to give a presentation at a meeting today, and I try to look the part of a professional. So what did I come up with?

An unlabeled dress that was part of the birthday stash from my MIL, topped by a Bill Blass jacket. Both pieces have metallic accents. Here's the dress without the jacket.

The top is a lined chiffon fabric with a blouson waist. The fabric is a glittery lace. It's not printed, the lace is actually overlaid on a teal blue sharkskin background. It's not lined. That's my only complaint - otherwise this dress is easy and comfy.

Here's a look at the jacket - it's a cadet blue tweed with the gold lurex woven in.

You can see the fabric better in this shot of my Joan Rivers necklace.

I waffled over my shoe decision, but ended up with my Nine West grey ankle straps from Nordstrom Rack.

I decided to accent the blue with my jewelry, so it's all sapphires all the time. On the left,

A sapphire bracelet, a gold bracelet, and a London Blue topaz ring. On the right,

One more sapphire bracelet, one more gold bracelet, and a sapphire ring.

That's it. Tonight, we go to Game 5 of the Clippers vs Spurs playoff series. It's do or die!!! But for now, onto the links. As Always on Tuesday, Amber at www.induffintely.blogspot.com has Tremendous Tuesday, and Lauren at www.stylelixir.com has Style Sessions. Then a new girl - Jess at www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com is having Turning Heads Tuesday. That's what I'm trying to do - turn heads, but in a good way. See you tomorrow, and GO CLIPS !!!!

Somewhere In Between

We celebrated two birthdays this weekend - one for a one year old, and one for a 68 year old. I fall somewhere in  between. We will get to the festivities. But first, let me show you what I got our 1 year old granddaughter, Calista, for her birthday.

Inside this bag (decorated with a Chihuahua, duh) are the following little outfits that I got at Carter's for her.

A little French sailor dress for her to wear in the future.

A little jammie set for her to wear now. Here's a closeup of yet another nautical print.

Ahoy matey!!! And last, a sleeper that I just HAD to get.

So the joint party was held at the Worthy Avenue Homeowners Association clubhouse. The theme was Minnie's Bowtique, featuring Minnie Mouse. Here's Kim and Calista, all dolled up.

Kim made a tree of pink and white cupcakes. Benjamin kept sneaking behind the display, stealing a cupcake, and then licking off the frosting and then hiding the bottom.

There was a pink and white polka dot cake.

Lots of little kids in costume were ready to scarf the cake. They also scarfed pizza, salad, tuna sandwiches, grapes and lots of chips.

Pink balloons were everywhere to accent the various entertainment stations.

They had a bubble machine, a playdoh castle, coloring books, and a magician.

The magician did some tricks that required audience participation. Joseph got volunteered to help.

It was also Kim's dad, Ron's, birthday as well. He also had a huge blue sheet cake.

See Benjamin's head just above the candles? He totaled three cupcakes, and two pieces of cake. The expression on his face when he saw cake was one of pure love. Ron got a laptop for a gift.

The party was supposed to go from 10-12, but it lasted past one. Then we helped clean up and went home to rest.

On Sunday, we went to a new buffet - Curry and Kabob House. It was Indian food, and they had goat curry. I happen to like goat, despite all the tiny bones.

I had naan, raita, tandoori chicken, goat curry and a few veggie dishes. It was good, and I had a mimosa just because. Then we visited my mom at Villa Valencia, and did some shopping for her since she had the stomach flu last week and was still tired. She's 95, so it takes her a while to recover.

Onto today. Here's what I am wearing.

I made this dress about 5 years ago. The pleather jacket came form Modcloth.

It's olive green and has knit insets under the sleeves for comfort. Here's the dress without the jacket.

With it, I wore a brown elastic belt. The dress has darts, but it's still a shift style. I wore my weird green resin necklace.

See the gold lurex in the stripes? That's what drew me to this fabric. Of course, I wore my green witch shoes.

I have to wear them when I get the chance. I also wore tan crochet hose, because those were the only ones I could find without holes in them. Only one arm of jewelry:

My Ebay turtle cuff and my Nordstrom green creepy ring. Last night, I had to iron this dress - it has zero stretch in the fabric. Elli likes to sit on the warm ironing board after I iron.

She looks like the Sphinx.  And there's another coincidence with one of my dogs. While I was in WalMart the other day, there was a big display for Pupperoni dog treats.

Look at that dog. Now compare this dog to my little Vinnie Barbarino Holtzman.

I think I've been robbed!!! Or else, Vinnie has been moonlighting as a model.

Onto the links!! First, Cherie at www.stylenudge.com is hosting Shoe and Tell. Speaking of shoes, Sheila at www.sheilaephemera.blogpsot.com is hosting Shoe Shine.
