Hooray for Hollywood !!!

Well, I took a day off from blogging because I had to go to a seminar. More on that later. First, here is a picture of the set of my little PR piece for the hospital. Our company president will be using the footage in one of his webinars about patient safety.

This is an actual ICU bed. My part was done with an ICU RN, Tim. We stood at the bedside and delivered our message. I had two speaking parts and he had one. The lights were extremely bright.

Here's the cameraman, another Tim.

The webinar will be out in the next week or so. You can be sure that I will be keeping you updated!!

Our seminar was held at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry, which is east of Los Angeles. It's a nice resort with a spa and golf course.

And guess what? They were filming a TV show for VH1 called Hit The Floor. Here are the crew trucks in the Base Camp.

They unloaded gear all day long. We were there for 6.5 hours, and they were not even close to being set up. They were trying to convert the lobby into a casino. Here's some of the gear piled up outside the door.

Now compare their camera with the one that Tim used.

It's on the boom there. It was about 100 times bigger. One thing about Pacific Palms - the food is awesome. Here's my lunch.

I had Caesar salad, roasted veggies, pasta and artichoke salad, and cioppino with mussels, shrimp and scallops. I also had a couple of cake bites for dessert.  It was yummy.

After work, I took our Principessa for her beauty appointment.

You follow the blue paw prints.

Elli did a bit of browsing and sniffing before it was her turn.

She wore her new dress. Then she entered the portals of doom.

I could hear her squeaking and yowling and giving the nice lady a really hard time. But her manicure turned out perfectly.

So onto today. What am I wearing?

This is my old favorite Cache jacket. It's green tweed with a black organza overlay.

Underneath, I wore green INC slacks, a gold lurex Henley, and a printed top.

Note Elli's portrait hanging proudly in my office. With this top, I wore my weird green resin necklace.

I had originally wanted to wear my black high heeled booties, but I made a game day substitution for my olive green wedge booties.

On my left arm, a green enamel cuff and my Irish Claddagh wedding ring.

On my right arm, my creepy green ring from Nordstrom and two Honu bangles that I got at the Aloha Bowl swap meet on Oahu.

Last but not least. Every now and then, my brain needs a tune up. And how do I do that? Well, in HB, there is a scrabble club that meets every Tuesday at the IHOP on Beach Blvd, between Ellis and Garfield. They hold two sessions - 1 PM and 6PM. Each lasts about 3 hours, and 4 games are played. It's free, and so are sodas and coffee. They have a website, www.scrabbleclub34.wordpress.com if you want to see what goes on. If you or anybody you know lives near HB and wants to give it a try, by all means check it out. Here's the director, David, playing a game.

There are players of all levels here, from novice to expert, and David will pair you with someone of similar ability, so you will have lots of fun and stretch out your brain.

I'm Ready For My Closeup, Mr DeMille

This afternoon, I am "starring" in a filmed piece that our hospital will use for marketing purposes. I will attempt to capture the moment. I brought a bag of makeup, etc, to touch myself up for my role. I did one of these once before, a couple of years ago.

But enough about that - you will be subjected to the gory details tomorrow. What am I wearing?

Since I need to look COMPLETELY professional, I went with a vey classic suit look. The skirt is Gucci, the sweater is Peck and Peck, and the jacket is Kasper. Here's a better look at the horsebit detail on the waist.

I wore my comfy, trusty Sesto Meucci black suede pumps with the red organza rosette.

I doubled up on necklaces - my long pearl Joan Rivers necklace, and a shorter garnet and gold pendant.

I also kept my arms classic and conservative. On the left, my wedding set and a gold/diamond bangle.

On my right, my enamel/crystal ring, and two garnet/gold bangles.

Also, I had some time before tennis, so I popped into Daiso, the new Japanese tchotchke store in my hood. While I was looking, this younger guy said the funniest thing. "We should tell Megan about this store - she loves to buy stupid stuff." HAHAHAHAHA. I also love to buy stupid stuff. The evidence:

Snow Pea chips. Junk food with vitamin content. My Ambrosia..

Foot items - black lace shoe liner socks, a toe separator for pedicures, and heel cups for shoes that slide off the heel.  My Nirvana.

A collagen face mask, and charcoal pore strips. My hemlock.

A plastic hanger ring for hand drying pantyhose. My Kryptonite. And of course, for my precious love,

Dog dresses!!! Here is my Mexican spitfire, modeling her new Hawaiian dress.

She looks good in pink. And she showed her gratitude for my little gift.

That's it, except for the links. First, as always, Lindsey at www.thepleatedpoppy.com for What I Wore Wednesday. Then, another new favorite, www.pastriespumpsandpi.blogspot.com for Who's Wearing What Wednesdays with Tameka. Lastly, Liz at www.shoppingmycloset.com for Style Me Wednesday. A Sad Day in L.A.

This morning, a commuter train hit a pickup that stalled on the tracks. 3 cars and an engine derailed, and there were a lot of injuries. Also, last night when we went up to LA to go to the Clipper game, a car caught fire on the freeway, during rush hour, in the heart of downtown (where the 110 meets the 101 for you Angelenos). I can't imagine being in one of the cars next to the burning one - how frightening. And on a minor note, the Clippers lost in the last 1.5 seconds. Our hero, Chris Paul (CP3 !!!) boofed it. He was heartbroken. Here's a picture of the opening laser extravaganza.

They project images onto the floor. It's so cool. Here's a pic with the floor all lit up, ready to go.

Onto today's outfit. It's a little chilly today, so I wore a sweater knit combo.

The knit skirt is by Merona, the teal turtleneck is by Joseph A, and the grey swing jacket is by Elle. Nothing real pricy here. I decided to go with my grey suede boots - they haven't gotten much lovin' yet this year. The skirt hits below the knee, so a shorter bootie or shoe would make me look even more stumpy than usual.

I chose a turquoise necklace that hits right at the sweet spot between the turtleneck and the top of the jacket.

You can see the origami-like detail on this cute little jacket here. On my left arm ,

I wore a bracelet of larimar, citrine, freshwater pearl and aurora borealis. I also wore a round diamond solitaire and a Swarovksi wide band. Quite dramatic. On my right arm, just one ring.

My silver spaceship ring with the mother of pearl inlay. I have this same ring in onyx.

So onto the links. A new cutie, Ashley at www.raspberryglow.com is hosting Trend Spin. This week's trend is faux fur. So my Donna Salyer purse fits right in.

I love this luxurious purse. Also, Rhea at www.rheaetcetera.com is hosting Style To Inspire. I will let you guys decide if I am an inspiration :). At any rate, let's hope that there are no fatalities from the train crash, and that everyone on the freeway last night got out safely. Some days, there is nowhere to go but up.

Rainy Days and Mondays

Yesterday afternoon and last night brought us some much needed rain. It was a good excuse to watch movies on TV and do some work on Kenni's portrait. Before it started, we took the dogs for a walk. On the way home, a guy was selling roses on the corner, so Doc got me a bouquet.

I put them in a polka dot vase that I got one year with another bouquet, and then placed them at the entrance to the sun room.

I also got a less fluffy and more prickly friend when I stopped at Home Depot to get something for the painter.

My little farm is growing!!! The lady said that this little fuzzy guy will sprout a yellow flower out of his top.

Isn't he cute? So what did I wear for the tail end of the wonderful rain storm?

The outer layer is me wearing my Newport News gold and black tweed coat. When that layer is peeled off,

I am wearing an outfit that I have repeated quite a few times over the years. The blouse is my favorite ivory chiffon with the front detail from Spiegel. The knit vest has a layer of lace under the knit ruffle, and the pants are Bebe. Here's a better look at the hem detail

Now for a better look at the pants. They have a lacing detail down the outside of the bottom of the legs. In this shot, you can also see my ivory and black Speigel MaryJanes.

I wore two necklaces with this outfit - the longer one is my Joan Rivers convertible pearl lariat with the interchangeable charms.

The shorter one is the new Claddagh that Doc got me to celebrate our anniversary.

Since the blouse has ruffles on the sleeve hems, no bracelets were needed. On my right hand, I wore an emerald and diamond ring that coordinates with the Claddagh.

On my left, my wedding set.

Except for the links, that's all I have today. First, as always on every other Monday, Patti at www.notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.com for Visible Monday. Then, Cherie at www.thestylenudge.com is hosting Shoe and Tell. Lastly, Rachelle at www.pinksole.com is doing All the Layers at How I fall.
Check out all these great blogs and get some inspiration. I will close with the progress I have made on our Kenni's portrait.

Have a fabulous Monday!!!
